Richard M. Drag, Ph.D.

1941–2016

Richard M. Drag, Ph.D., a licensed clinical psychologist in Atlanta, Georgia, died July 11, 2016, of leukemia. His death occurred at home, where he was being tended to by hospice staff and family.

During a career that spanned nearly five decades, Dr. Drag specialized in providing psychotherapeutic services to adolescents, adults, couples, and families who were dealing with myriad relationship and mental health issues. Dr. Drag practiced and consulted in a variety of clinical settings, including private practice, nursing care facilities, and correctional institutions.

In the latter part of his career, Dr. Drag was affiliated with Atlanta Psychological Associates as a practitioner. Prior to that, he served as the clinical director of the Mental Health and Addiction Program on the Flathead Indian Reservation in Montana, and as the clinical director of the Emotional Growth Program of the Mission Mountain School, a therapeutic boarding school for girls in Condon, Montana.

His early career included a teaching appointment at Georgia State University and concurrent work as a staff psychologist at the university's Counseling Center. A diehard Gator, Dr. Drag received his training in Clinical Psychology at the University of Florida.

Dr. Drag is survived by a son, Anthony, and two brothers, Albert and Bernard.
